"When Sonic Met Sally" by Holly-Beth V. Kraft A quick dedication going out to Jen Von Ohlsen. She's rad, she's bad, she's never mad, she's JEN! Flower! FLOWERFLOWER! DAY-ZEEeeEeeEeEeeeEe! Woo-hoo! MEAT SOCKETS RULE! Here goes! It was late at night when Knothole had finally calmed down. Most of the villages inhabitants had settled down to go to bed except for Tails. He was waiting patiently for Sally to come in and tuck him in. When she finally came, Tails was still not ready to go to sleep. "Aunt Sally, will you tell me a story before I go to sleep?" asked Tails. "Okay," Sally paused a moment to think, "Do you want to hear about before I met Sonic?" questioned Sally. "You mean you didn't know him at one time?" said a puzzled Tails. "Mm hmm. Would you like to hear about it?" she smiled." "Yeah!" bounced Tails. "All right. It goes like this..." "I don't wanna meet a stupid girl, Uncle Chuck! Why do I have to go?" fidgeted little Sonic. "Sonic, you know why." said Uncle Chuck firmly. Sonic then remembered that his uncle had an important meeting with the King. When they got there, he would have to be introduced to the King's little girl, and he wanted out, bad. "Come on. It's time to leave." called Uncle Chuck. A hesitant but obedient little hedgehog trudged along to the door. Meanwhile, in the castle, Sally was having an identical conversation with her father. "Daddy, why do I have to meet some disgusting guy? I don't wanna meet a guy." Sally's father was very gentle. "Sally, he's Sir Charles nephew. That makes him one of the family." "I still don't like it, daddy." Sally persisted. "Don't worry about it, child." smiled the King. "Ah. Sir Charles. Good to see you again." laughed the King. "And you as well, sire. Shall we get started?" grinned Sir Charles. "First, let us introduce the children." replied Sally's father. "Oh the children! I almost forgot," Uncle Chuck looked down towards Sonic, who was now hiding behind his leg, "Sonic, I'd like you to meet Sally. She is the King's daughter." Sonic peeked out a little further from his hiding place. "Hello." he said. Sally was also behind her father and repeated the same gesture. The King spoke. "Now Sally, I'm going to have an important meeting with Sir Charles. Now you'll stay with Rosie, plus you'll be nice to Sonic, right" "Yes daddy." she mumbled. "That's a good girl. Come Sir Charles, let's begin." "Yes sire. The same goes for you too Sonic. Have fun." called Uncle Chuck as he left. "Hi." "Hi." "...Are you a princess?" mumbled Sonic. "Uh-huh." Sally answered. "Wow." "It's all right. Not very fun." "Oh....Do you like to run?" he asked. "I guess so." "Cool. Wanna see how fast I can run?" grinned a hopeful hedgehog. "Sure." she replied. Sonic then shot off into a blue blur, darting this way and that. He ran on the walls and also performed a little trick in which he'd run up the wall to the ceiling where he fell. On his way down, he did a couple flips. "That's neat!" laughed Sally. "Past cool, huh? My uncle says I'm the fastest thing on Mobius." "Really?" "Yep." boasted Sonic. "My daddy tells me that I'm very good with computers. He let me program some of his things. They all work too," Sally hesitated, "Do you have a mommy or daddy?" "Not anymore. They were killed in the Great War." Sonic said, looking down a bit. "Oh. My mom died too. She got very sick, and no one could make her better." Sally said. "Oh." There was a little pause for a moment, then Sally began again. "Let's ask Rosie if we can visit Bunnie, Rotor , and Antoine." "Who are they?" "They're my pals. You'll like them." After getting the okay from Sally's nanny, they left the castle. "Hi Sally-girl! Who is he?" said Bunnie politely as her best friend walked up. "This is Sonic. He's the fastest thing alive!" smiled Sally. "Really?" said a curious Rotor. "Yep! Watch this!" grinned Sonic. Sonic then proceeded to race around the house and return to his starting point, startling everyone. "Wow!...Cool!....Oh my!" "Soneek, how do you do zat?" said Antoine. "I dunno. I just do it." said Sonic. "This is getting boring Aunt Sally!" said Tails. "Oh? Well, let's skip over the introductions and get to the good part. The part when we played in the trace..." "I, Antoine, am zee greatest knight in all of Mobyees! I will slay the evil dragon and save ze princess!" said Antoine, waving a makeshift wooden sword. Sally was in the treehouse being "captured" by Sonic. Bunnie and Rotor were pretending to be knights as well. The tree was a big oak. Rotor had made the treehouse by himself, planning out the dimensions. He was smart from the start. The kids were having so much fun that they didn't seem to notice that Bunnie was missing until a couple of minutes. Bunnie had fallen into a ravine and broken her ankle, and she was crying. Sonic came to the rescue by taking her back up the steep slope carefully. "Thanks sugarhog." she said sniffling. "C'mon. We've gotta tell Rosie." said Rotor. "Oh dear! What's wrong?" cried Rosie. "I hurt ma foot! I can't move it well." Bunnie said softly. "We need to get you to Doctor Julian, Bunnie." said Rosie. "Let's see...hmm..." mumbled Robotnik as he examined Bunnie's little foot, "I think you've broke your ankle, sweetie." he smiled. "Does it have to come off?" said Bunnie, suddenly very scared. "No, of course not! We just need to put your foot in a cast for a few weeks." "Does it hurt?" she asked. "No. Let's go visit Dr. Snively. He does casts for little girls who break their ankles, just like you!" grinned Dr. Julian. "Okay." Bunnie said with a smile of relief. "Now Bunnie, you'll need to keep this on your leg for awhile so it can heal. So it will be able to be back to normal in no time. Okay?" rasped Snively, rushing his words. "All right." "Good. Plus you can't swim until we remove it in two weeks. Promise me you won't, okay little girl?" "Uh-huh." "That's a good girl." smiled Snively, giving Bunnie a little pat on the head. Bunnie went outside to the waiting room where Sonic, Rotor, Antoine, and Sally were waiting. "Bunnie!" shouted Sally, happy to see her friend. "Hi!" replied Bunnie. "Are you okay?" asked Sonic. "Yep. The doctor put a cast on my lil' ol' foot, an' gave me crutches too!" she giggled. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Dr. Robotnik and Snerdly...were good?!" blurted Tails. "Uh-huh. They were my doctors, too." said Sally flatly. "Eww....gross..." "Anyway, after we got Bunnie home..." "Sonic? Sally? Let's go home." said Rosie. Sonic and Sally said good-bye as they dropped Rotor off at his house. Then they headed off for the castle. When Uncle Chuck and Sally's dad had finished talking, they came out and asked what had happened. "Bunnie broke her ankle, daddy!" said Sally. "She did? Is she all right?" asked the King. "Yep! Dr. Julian and Dr. Snively made her leg better! She has a cool cast too!" answered Sonic. "So you kids had fun today?" asked Uncle Chuck. "Uh-huh! It was way-past Unc'! I'm glad I came with you!" smiled Sonic. "Oh. That's good Sonic!" chuckled Sir Charles, "It's time to go home too. Say goodbye to the King and Princess Sally." "Goodbye your highness! Sally is way cool!" said the little hedgehog. The King laughed. "Why thank you, Sonic. I'll see you soon." "Ba-bye Sally. Thanks for everything. I had a ton of fun!" "Bye Sonic! Come back soon!" Sally smiled, as she watched the uncle and his nephew walk down the corridor. "...And that's the first time I met Sonic." Sally finished. "Wow. Thank you for the story Aunt Sally! It was totally awesome!" Tails beamed. "You get some sleep honey, tomorrow's a big day." replied Sally. "Okay, good night!" As Sally left Tails' hut, she ran into Sonic. "T2's asleep?" he asked the princess. "Yeah. I told him the story about how we first met. He liked it." rejoined Sally. "Didja tell him about ol' Dr. Bullethead and Dr. Snyvely?" "Yeah. You should have seen his face." giggled Sally. "You know, meeting you was one of the greatest things I've ever done." said Sonic. "Same with me."
